JOB DESCRIPTION
Intellectual Property & Licensing (IP&L) is seeking an experienced finance professional to be a part of an accomplished team of individuals with a passion for driving value for Microsoft’s intellectual property. IP&L manages the creation and maintenance of Microsoft’s patents, trademarks, and copyrights portfolio; performs outbound licensing, executes inbound licensing and investments, and manages IP policy and communications for Microsoft. The IP Finance team works closely with the leadership team of IP&L and others areas of LCA to manage IP&L as a business. We are currently looking to hire a Senior Analyst.
The right candidate should be able to provide insight, advice and proactive analysis to management on the multiple strategies used in leveraging IP. The candidate will engage in key strategic discussions, participate and drive projects related to overall strategy decisions, owns the delivery of standard measurement models and scorecards and relate group financial strategy to corporate initiatives around finance as appropriate. In addition, this position will support the evaluation and execution of inbound and outbound licensing agreements, investments, joint ventures and partnerships for intellectual property related transactions at Microsoft.
As the role evolves, the IP&L team will support greater responsibility and bigger challenges for the Senior Analyst. Furthermore, leaders of this team are highly dedicated to personal career development. This position offers growth within IP&L as well as the chance to move on to other operational and financial roles within Microsoft.
Minimum requirements for this position:
More than 6 years of experience in business analysis, revenue forecasting, opportunity analysis, and financial modeling. Experience supporting complex investment deals or portfolio analysis preferred. Experience in intellectual property a plus but not required. Person must be a quick learner, leader and have an ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity. Person must also have a collaborative & strong work ethic and most importantly, excellent judgment. In addition, we are looking for candidate with the following qualifications:
Strong financial analysis and modeling skills, experience doing market opportunity analysis
Self-starter with overall business acumen
Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and effective at cross-group collaboration
Executive presence/strong written and oral communication skills
Minimum 6 years relevant prior work experience in consulting, investment banking, or corporate finance
MBA required
