Requirements:

Degree in law with ideally a specialization in US insurance law.

Minimum four years of legal experience and admitted to the bar in one US state.

Experience with insurance, reinsurance and/or insurance regulation helpful but not mandatory.

Experience in a law firm and/or in insurance environment and experience in M&A are a plus.

Strong leadership abilities.

Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Ability to develop relationships with a variety of inside and outside contacts.

Critical abilities: judgment, creativity, flexibility.

Above average drafting skills.

Full integrity.

Description:

Chartis International has an opportunity for an Assistant General Counsel - Risk Management.

This position reports directly to the Chartis International Senior Assistant General Counsel - Risk Management in New York. The position supports Chartis International Risk Management on transactional matters and strategic initiatives, both short-term and long-term.

As an Assistant General Counsel - Risk Management, your responsibilities would be:

Provide day to day legal advice to the home office and foreign International Risk Management teams.

Review and draft transactional contracts, including reinsurance agreements and indemnity agreements.

Review and approve security and collateral instruments.

Advise on the structure of captive risk management programs.

Provide follow-up and implementation memoranda, guidelines and instructions.

Assist in liaising with insurance authorities and responding to regulatory inquiries relating to restructuring transactions.
