The Copyright & Trade Secret Group in Microsoft’s Legal and Corporate Affairs (LCA) division has a rare and immediate opening for an experienced attorney to share responsibility for Microsoft’s dynamic copyright and trade secret legal practice. The attorney’s primary responsibilities will include:
Strategic copyright and trade secret counseling to Microsoft product groups (including Windows, Office, Xbox, Zune, Bing and MSN) in order to facilitate the development of cutting-edge products for our customers;
Critical work on international and domestic copyright policy issues and legislative strategies;
Special projects related to copyright and trade secret issues, including the development and presentation of ongoing training to product teams and LCA colleagues ; and
Analysis and resolution of copyright and trade secret disputes prior to litigation.
Qualifications: Candidates should have at least three+ years related work experience as a copyright attorney (or practice in a closely related area). In addition candidates should have strong analytical, writing, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, sound business judgment, a professional demeanor and attitude, and a solid working knowledge of computer technology, as well as the ability to work both independently and as a member of our team and to effectively prioritize to meet deadlines.
